Santa Rosa sits in Sonoma County wine country, north of San Francisco, a city of gardens, historic neighborhoods, and vineyard views. The Charles M. Schulz Museum honors the Peanuts creator, who lived and worked in Santa Rosa, with original strips and a re-created studio. Luther Burbank Home and Gardens preserves the home of the famed plant breeder, with gardens that still bloom. Railroad Square, the historic district around the old depot, offers shops, restaurants, and farmers markets, and Annadel State Park, just east of town, offers trails through oak woodlands and wildflower meadows.
