Quincy is the birthplace of John Adams and John Quincy Adams, and the Adams National Historical Park preserves their home, Peacefield, along with the church where both are buried. The city also earned the name Granite City, because its quarries supplied stone for the Bunker Hill Monument and buildings across the country. Wollaston Beach, the largest public beach in Boston Harbor, draws walkers and swimmers, and the USS Salem, a heavy cruiser turned museum ship, rests at the former Fore River Shipyard.
