Norman is home to the University of Oklahoma, and the campus gives the city its energy, with the Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium drawing crowds on football Saturdays. The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History presents dinosaurs, Oklahoma fossils, and Native cultures, while the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art holds American and Native art collections. Lake Thunderbird State Park, east of the city, offers boating, trails, and camping, and the National Weather Center in Norman is a national hub for weather research. Downtown Norman, known as Campus Corner, mixes shops and restaurants near the university.
