Lakeland is named for its many lakes, and Lake Mirror in the center of the city gives downtown a scenic promenade, gardens, and a historic amphitheater. Florida Southern College in Lakeland holds the largest collection of Frank Lloyd Wright buildings in the world, a campus that draws architecture lovers from far away. The Polk Museum of Art presents exhibitions in a modern downtown building, and Bonnet Springs Park, a large new park on former rail land, offers trails, a nature center, and a children's museum. Hollis Garden, beside Lake Mirror, adds a formal garden of flowers and fountains.
