Buckeye sits in the West Valley of Phoenix, a fast growing city that still keeps wide desert horizons. White Tank Mountain Regional Park, just north of the city, offers hiking trails, petroglyphs, and views across the valley. Skyline Regional Park, in the White Tank foothills, adds mountain biking and hiking trails with desert plants and wildlife. Historic downtown Buckeye has older buildings and local shops, and the Verrado community brings new neighborhoods, parks, and gathering places to the area. The city grew from farming and ranching roots in the Arizona desert.
